Argie schools rule

Right we're off to Buenos Aires.

That is, if we are of school-going age.

Argentina is so footie mad, the World Cup will be beamed live into classrooms across the South American country, according to reports.

Kicking the curriculum into touch, local authorities will allow the matches featuring the two-time winners to interrupt maths, side-line biology and gloss over history.

The level-headed Cordoba region education minister, Amelia Lopez, told the Independent: "It's just common sense."

Here, here.

Due to time zone differences, many of the games in Germany will kick off right in the middle of the Argentinean school day. The Argie school boss asked: "What was the choice? To encourage them to miss school?"

But that's enough about the teachers.

However, sensing more justification is needed, the big cheese Education Minister Daniel Filmus stuffily claimed watching a football match in class may have educational benefits and "can be a very enriching experience".

Well, coming to terms with a crushing 5-0 defeat in the final to England will certainly be a steep learning curve.
