Jurg gotta be joking

Ooh-er, it's not all smiles in the Germany camp: Jurgen Klinsmann has been slammed by legend Franz Beckenbauer for missing a World Cup coaches' workshop.

Beckenbauer, who's head of the 2006 World Cup organising committee, reckoned Klinsmann should spend less time messing about at home in California and more time in Germany.

But hey, be reasonable: Winter in the Rhineland or a beach in sunny San Diego? You decide.

"Jurgen should have been here. This is a meeting he had to make and there are not too many of them," Franz said.

"I do not know how many times I have spoken with him about it but clearly there is no point."

Other leading managers such as England's leader Sven and Brazilian coach Carlos Alberto Parreira attended the workshop, while Klinsmann chose to remain in the United States.

Beckenbauer's criticism is strengthened after Germany lost 4-1 to Italy in Florence and the World Cup hosts were laughed off as potential winners this summer.

But you know what Germany are like come the big competitions...
