Mac media makeover
The tabloids have started on Stevie Mac already, with the ink not yet dry on his reported £2.5m England contract.
Not content with mere football guff, the Sun and the Daily Star's sleaze-seeking searchlights are fully trained on the Boro boss. Of Steve McClaren's appointment as Sven's successor, the Star attempts to raunchify the story, with the headline: "TV babe sexed up Mac."
What? Another alleged affair revealed?
Er, no – despite the Star's fnarr fnarring: "New England boss' two years under Katie."
The story goes that Big Mac, as the tabs are already calling him, "had £20,000-worth of secret sessions with ITN's sexiest newsgirl, Katie Dereham.
"Her media makeover transformed the shy Middlesbrough manager into a smiling and slick TV performer ready for the hottest seat in football."
Maybe the Labour party should get hold of her number.
