Wayne's woe

That tricky left-back slot for England isn't getting any clearer - and it doesn't help when on-loan Chelsea boy Wayne Bridge is taken out by one of our own.

There's an anxious wait ahead after the defender suffered an ankle injury during England's 2-1 win against Uruguay.

The 25-year-old has rediscovered his best form since joining Fulham, after failing to make himself a regular at Stamford Bridge.

However, he lasted just 30 minutes before being stretchered off after colliding with England goalkeeper Paul Robinson.

It is believed Bridge has damaged ankle ligaments, but he will undergo tests to discover the full extent of the problem.

England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson said: "Our medical staff don't think it's that bad."

Well that alright then, Sven.
