Blow for Green

England's third-choice goalkeeper Robert Green is set to miss the World Cup finals after suffering a groin injury in the 2-1 defeat by Belarus.

It was a night when the much-hyped Theo Walcott was given his first public airing for England.

The Norwich City keeper collapsed after taking a goal-kick seven minutes after coming on at Reading's Madejski Stadium for an England B side and looks certain to miss the summer showpiece, with Liverpool's Scott Carson set for a call-up.

England coach Sven-Goran Eriksson told Sky Sports after the game: "He's almost certainly out. He's got a scan tomorrow and that will confirm it.

"It's a pity for him, but Scott Carson is a good keeper and he showed that when he came on."

Skipper for the night Michael Owen was more upbeat.

Owen lasted an hour of the game as he continues his comeback from a foot injury.

He added: "I felt fine, the foot felt fine.

"I feel sharp. I'm pleased I played 60 minutes and it's onwards and upwards now."
