The world of pop and football collide after Simon Fuller, the man behind Pop Idol and the Spice Girls, has been signed up to represent the England football team.
Fuller's 19-Entertainment company have been chosen by the 10 England stalwarts that make up the Team England panel and include David Beckham and Steven Gerrard.
Our boys voted for the pop svengali's newly (and hopefully)-named 1966 Entertainment company which will dedicate itself to promoting the England team to companies such as McDonald's and Carlsberg.
The committee is made up of Beckham, Gerrard, Michael Owen, David James, Gary Neville, Sol Campbell, Rio Ferdinand, John Terry and Frank Lampard.
None exactly short of a bob or two.
They unanimously agreed to award Fuller a four-year contract, beginning in August 2006.
Our boys will get a portion of the money the FA earns from allowing their images to be used by sponsors, totalling 4m quid a year, split equally among the squad.
Well, Gary Neville would feel a bit left out otherwise.
