Sausage transfer

Spain is welcoming another journeyman – no not you, Jon Woodgate – to its country: one Marius Cioara.

Never heard of him? Not to worry: his name will forever be linked with sausages after an unfortunate transfer incident.

Plying his trade for Romanian second division team UT Arad, defender Cioara was sold to fourth division club Regal Hornia for less than perhaps his imagined market value: try pork sausages.

Fifteen kilos of pork sausages to be exact. And once that story broke those dastardly away fans and hacks just couldn't help themselves.

The mickey taking got all too much for Cioara and he decided to bolt the country for Spain.

When the story broke Regal Hornia confirmed that they had given up 'the team's sausage allowance for a week to secure him, but we are confident it will be worth it.'

Now, with their sausages gone, and possibly served up in a Ukrainian variety of bangers-and-mash, Regal Hornia want a refund.

The sausage barbs ringing in his ears, poor Cioara is on his way to Spain where apparently he's got a 'job on a farm'.

Just keep the pigs away from him.
